Experience, Analyse and Collaborate in Virtual Reality

arivis Pro VR toolkit is a fully integrated Virtual Reality image analysis interface that displays real image data. The toolkit makes use of patented direct volume rendering techniques with no need for complicated manual conversion of data or cumbersome creation of surface models. With arivis Pro VR you can use your hands to directly move, rotate, scale, and shape your digital image data. Freed from being tethered to your keyboard and mouse, and with depth perception equivalent to the real world, your hands are finally able to simply reach out and 'touch' your data to precisely and intuitively mark, measure, classify, track, edit, and segment. arivis Pro VR enables efficient, accurate, and interactive proofreading, editing, tracking and de-novo segmentation of multi-dimensional images from a multitude of supported imaging instruments and systems.

An Outstanding VR Image Analysis Experience

arivis Pro VR is constantly being refined to provide all users with the most natural, comfortable experience. Frame rates of at least 75 frames per second per eye and reaction to head movements in under 20ms enable full immersion in the data, while avoiding the typical 'motion sickness'.  arivis Pro VR utilizes patented volume rendering techniques to achieve this performance even with arbitrary large datasets. Additionally, the VR interface positions users in a virtual theater, so they feel grounded and provides spatial context to 'walk-around' in. If you are lost, a simple push of a button or a voice command resets the view. Environment change options include altering its visibility, transparency, and background color.
A future-proof scientific virtual reality image analysis toolkit, arivis Pro VR works with diverse commercial headsets and fully supports OpenXRTM standard.

Various scientific disciplines and industries benefit from arivis Pro VR, including:

  • Neuroscience
  • Developmental Biology
  • Cell Biology
  • Cancer Research
  • Immunology
  • Materials Research
  • Pharma/CRO/Biotech
  • Manufacturing
Scientific image data can be imported directly with extensive support for vendor-specific file formats from a multitude of 3D/4D volume imaging techniques, such as:

  • Widefield Fluorescence Microscopy
  • Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy
  • Light Sheet Fluorescence Microscopy
  • Super-resolution Microscopy
  • Scanning Electron Microscopy
  • Computed Tomography (CT / X-Ray)
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

VR-assisted 3D Tracking

Proofreading tracking data and manually adjusting the results can become very cumbersome on a 2D screen, especially when you have a lot of objects, or tracks are very complicated. Using Virtual Reality image analysis, you can immerse yourself in the data and gain a detailed view of your sample, that a 2D application cannot match. Looking at objects and structures as they surround you makes it easier to concentrate on a particular object of interest. With time control at your fingertips, you can always keep your eyes on the object as it moves through the specimen and follow it in space. Add new, or edit and delete existing tracks right where you see them - in the image. This makes proofreading tracks faster, easier, and more precise than on a desktop.

Proofread and Edit Tracks

The Tracking function enables you to import, visualize and edit 3D tracks.  With arivis Pro VR you can use your hands to interact with tracks imported following any automatic analysis you created in ZEISS arivis Pro and presented in the familiar fashion.  In the Virtual Reality interface, you can cut, merge or prolong tracks if you are not satisfied with the result from the automatic tracking algorithm. This is especially convenient for images in which two objects are very close together so that automated differentiation and separation may prove challenging.

Interactive Measurement in VR

Do you want to count different cell types? Use your fingertip.
Do you want to know the distance between two locations within your image? Just measure it.
arivis Pro VR offers you two versatile tools to count and measure in Virtual Reality. With the Counting tool you can quickly place coloured markers in your image, and the arivis Pro VR toolkit will count them for you. With the Measure tool you can measure either simple distances, angles or arbitrary path lengths. All your measurements and counting will be saved together with your image as objects and can be further analyzed, either in VR or at the your desktop.

Collaborative VR Environment

Would you like to show your results to your colleagues in an interesting and interactive way? You can simply do it with arivis Pro VR Collaboration. You can share your results worldwide without being in the same room, but still sharing the same point of view and diving into your sample together. By using Clipping and Laser Pointers you can highlight structures of certain features of interest to draw the attention of the other attendees. Sharing the same environments creates a whole new experience that facilitates new discoveries.
