Foundation for Joint Image Science: Scalable Image Storage

Enabling collaborative workflows and fully scalable computations starts with an optimized file format. Our Scalable Image Storage (SIS) is efficient and vendor-agnostic, providing rapid exploration and computation of 2D/3D/4D image datasets - whether stored locally or remotely, no matter the original microscopy file format.

The current multitude of imaging file formats are easily converted to SIS, which is specifically optimized to support all universal image science tasks such as: Segmentation, Tracking, Volume Rendering, Machine Learning, Results Visualization, Virtual Reality, Remote Viewing, and Image Management.

ZEISS arivis Pro - Ready for Collaboration

Image processing and analysis pipelines, visualization bookmarks, and journeys through data are conveniently emailed to colleagues, customers, and students. Also, spatially resolved objects (segmentation, tracking, annotations, etc.) are stored in a database that, being much lighter than raw image data, can be more quickly shared and explored. Meanwhile powerful high-resolution rendering enables you to distill terabytes of image data into informative 360 degree or standard screenshots and movies.

Diving into images with arivis Pro VR

Being able to see features of 3D/4D data while discussing them facilitates and accelerates communication and understanding. Shared experiences, meetings, and tutorial sessions are all provided by arivis Pro VR toolkit.

Journeys though data can be recorded and shared with others, either as VR immersive stories or as standard movies. Also, VR-efficient tasks such as skeleton and branch-point editing are integrated easily into multistep collaborative workflows.

Web-based workflows are enabled and managed by the ZEISS arivis Hub. Not only can users work completely in a web browser but also, they can leverage powerful local applications such as ZEISS arivis Pro and ZEISS arivis Hub to enhance collaborative workflows. Recently, neuroscientists at the George Washington University used the ZEISS arivis Hub to crowdsource the painting of synapses while simultaneously syncing the web-produced data to computations, performed on in-lab workstations, to individually analyze each of thousands of synapses.

The scientific imaging platform

The amount of computation required for modern imaging science is staggering. ZEISS arivis Hub collects computing power into a shared resource that parallelizes computation to eliminate computing bottlenecks and produce results quickly. Analysis pipelines that are prototyped in ZEISS arivis Pro are directly loaded to ZEISS arivis Hub for application to thousands of images. ZEISS arivis Hub smartly distributes the jobs across the available servers and monitors their progress. Data management, dashboards, raw data, and results are accessible via standard web browsers.
