Experience Scientific Imaging like Never Before

Collaboration in Virtual Reality using ZEISS arivis Pro VR empowers you to experience 3D and 4D  microscopy data as a team with colleagues around the world in virtual reality online meetings. You meet with researchers in an interactive virtual lab environment to discuss image-based research projects, explore 3D microcopy images, and share your expertise and results in life science, education, and biomedical research. ZEISS arivis Pro VR and Collaboration allow you to interact with and navigate through large scientific datasets in real time and understand structural features, results, and nuances in an immersive 3D/4D environment.

Collaboration in VR using ZEISS arivis Pro VR gives you a completely new collaborative space to investigate data with your colleagues:

  • Work with peers from different disciplines and universities globally – via your local network, intranet, or the internet
  • Use Clipping and Laser Pointers to highlight structures of interest for your team members
  • Make decisions and discoveries interactively at the virtual object
  • Use voice chat or any web meeting service and see your colleagues’ avatars in VR for real communication in virtual space
  • Share your VR environment with multiple users without loss of render quality even at standard internet connection speed

An Immersive, Collaboraitve VR experience in the Real World

Virtual Reality Engagement Lab at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Stem Cell Biology (DanStem)

The DanStem Virtual Reality Engagement Lab is a scientific outreach platform at the University of Copenhagen which actively engages with the public on topics related to stem cell research. ZEISS arivis Pro VR (formerly VisionVR) software will be used to display real image data in Virtual Reality (VR). The arivis software enables the team members to use their hands to move, rotate, scale, and shape scientific data in a way that feels like their hands can simply ‘touch’ the image in 3D.

With the new ZEISS arivis Pro VR (formerly VisionVR) Collaboration feature, the researchers can explain scientific concepts of stem cell biology in an immersive and collaborative way to various audiences.

This project is funded by a grant from the Novo Nordisk Foundation, further details are available at the project's homepage.

Virtual meetings enable joint scientific discoveries and shared educational experiences

Adventure inside image volumes and results in ZEISS arivis Pro VR. Collaboration in Virtual Reality enables users to experience their 3D and 4D images in an immersive environment together and work collaboratively with colleagues around the world on the same dataset to explore data.

This immersive environment is fully interactive and can be used from remote locations as if everyone would be in the same (virtual) room acting naturally in 3D space. You can reach into images, turn and clip them. You can highlight certain features of interest to draw the attention of the other attendees in 3D or you can use a Laser pointer for even more interactive sessions in VR. Also results from image analysis workflows can be presented and discussed in a team to get deeper insights in complex image analysis topics.

ZEISS arivis Pro VR Collaboration lets you:

  • move, scale and clip inside of data volumes in real time
  • see each other’s position, view direction, and hand movement
  • highlight dataset features for other collaborators
