arivis WebView - collaboration tool

arivis WebView offers the possibility to explore, annotate and analyze large multi-dimensional image data from any location around the world via the Internet without the need to copy data to other locations. Without installing proprietary software or plug-ins, arivis WebView allows users to work on the same image file at the same time or to do server based image processing.

Applications
Web-based learning on smartphones or tablets using virtual high-res & annotatable histological microscopy images
Collaborative segmentation, proof-editing, and crowd-sourcing of annotation tasks on electron microscopy data
Rapid remote screening and organization of large image collections by numerous users simultaneously
arivis Web View can be integrated into existing image management environments and may be customizable to specific needs. Web View is a modular system fitting your needs. Add more modules when your needs change in the future.
Sever based image analysis
A local or a remote server may be used to perform batch analysis efficiently on a large amount of image data.
- Visualization and analysis of multi-dimensional image data from various techniques in the TByte range!
- Easy to use web interface, no client software necessary, accessible from everywhere
- Server based data management and storage
- Use of the flexible image analysis functionality of arivis Vision4D
- Automated, scheduled image analysis jobs
- Standard computer or laptop can be used to work with data
- Easily share analysis results with other users via any web browser
Benefits
- More efficiency and less data space: no need to copy the data to another location. Keep the data in one place and perform analysis on a server without the need to be in the same location.
- Safe time and hardware resources: Optimal use of hardware resources on a server and access of data and results even with a standard laptop or PC from anywhere.
- Easy Collaboration: share data and results with your colleagues via internet browser. No need for specific client software
Technology
The base technology used by the arivis WebView is the arivis ImageCore, that stores and manages image data in a unique data format which ensures mutual data processing without data convertions or additional adaptions. The arivis ImageCore is integrated into the web application server and responsible for delivering the image tiles.
Our technology provides access to image data of almost unlimited size on the internet and allows the user to easily view and process that data. For accessing arivis WebView, you simply need an internet connection and a standard web browser (tested with Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Opera); even with a narrowband connection you have access to the image data in the arivis WebView without any loss of performance. The communication between the server and client as well as the implementation of the server are based on open standards like XML and Javascript.
Both the server and the client implementation of the arivis WebView have a modular format. That is why the modules can be easily extended and adapted to specific scenarios according to the respective application or customer requirements.

E-Learning Platform
arivis would like to make the world of teaching and learning more interactive and enable effective collaboration. Content that is available in one place can thus be made available to students worldwide and independent of time and place. Thus, wherever WLAN is available, it is possible to work on the specimens outside of microscopy time and in addition to the textbooks. Structures can be viewed more closely and better prepared visually. The annotation functions of the application enable free exploration in didactically prepared specimens and the processing of image-based test tasks for learning progress control.
Independent of hardware and microscopy laboratory, digital and future-oriented learning is thus possible, which adapts to the new everyday life of the young students of our time and creates maximum flexibility and mobility.
Visualization and Navigation

Visualize, navigate and zoom your image data without waiting time, even when working with very large image data – the arivis WebView makes it possible.
The arivis WebView convinces with an intuitive and user-friendly interface. A navigator window provides an overview of the whole image while a position rectangle shows the position of the visible image region. In both the navigation and the image detail window, an active navigation is possible. With the arivis WebView you have the option to either use predefined zoom levels or the zoom tool for free and smooth zoom.

In addition to our desktop software product arivis Vision4D for the processing and analysis of large image data, arivis provides the WebView system which uses a web-based client/server technology in order to provide large image data via internet. In order to visualize the data processed by the server, a common web browser is sufficient. Using the WebGL technology, we can even render interactive 3D data fast and at high quality in a standard web browser. Since this is a standard compliant solution, the 3D technology can be implemented in any web applications as well and interact with already existing systems.
Therewith, a variety of user scenarios arise for training courses, project work or for the presentation of large image data.
Annotation Possibilities
In order to process your image data, arivis WebView provides extensive annotation possibilities which can be applied on your image planes using different shapes and colors. Once the annotations are created, they can be filtered and analyzed according to various criteria.
The arivis WebView makes it possible that several users have access to one and the same image file to use the functionality of annotations. That means that annotations can for example be used to cooperatively mark, measure or edit Regions of Interest (ROIs) by several users.
