arivis was able to convince the jury and was honored with the ICU Business Award in the category "Innovative business models of young entrepreneurs and founders" at an event held at the Unterschleissheim Festival Hall on November 25.
In describing the achievements of arivis AG, presenter Ralph P. Müller, CEO of Dynamics GmbH, said that an increase in sales of over 200 percent in four years could be regarded as extraordinary. Entrepreneur Andreas Suchanek emerged as the winner in the "Innovative Start-Up" category. The CEO of this company, which specializes in big image data and compliance software, emphasized: "We have been awarded major prizes, but we are particularly pleased to be thus honored here in Unterschleissheim, where we have our registered office."
arivis AG – Unterschleissheim
The data volumes which the specialized software company arivis AG, based in Unterschleissheim, can handle with its software are gigantic. arivis AG has developed internationally revolutionary software for biomedical research and quality assurance purposes, enabling users of multi-dimensional images to visualize, distribute, analyze and administer them in up to five dimensions, even on a standard PC or laptop computer. This is despite the fact that the size of such images can easily amount to several terabytes. Andreas Suchanek, the founder and chairman of the board of arivis AG, which has its registered office in Unterschleissheim, vividly described the range of activities: "The average size of a smartphone photo is between 1.5 and 2 MB. This means that an image data set of one terabyte might contain over 550,000 phone images." Competing products have been reaching their limits at data volumes of three to five gigabytes. This innovative start-up company is only five years old. At the time, Suchanek recognized the signs of the times – the exponential growth in the data volumes for technical/scientific images. The company's success has been as rapid as its development. Between 2011 and 2014 alone, sales increased by over 200 percent. In addition to the registered office in Unterschleissheim, the company has branches in Berlin, Rostock, Phoenix (Arizona) and Washington DC. As well as the big image data solutions, it also provides compliance software. According to Suchanek, this is an important addition: "Due to the steadily increasing range of regulations and compliance requirements worldwide in the field of research, pre-clinical and clinical trials and the approval and maintenance of medical products, this field is becoming increasingly important."
The company has received several awards thus far, including the "Technology Fast 50 Award" from Deloitte – one of the major awards for German Hi-Tech companies. Despite the strong international orientation of the company, Suchanek is very pleased with the award: "We particularly appreciate that, by winning the ICU Business Award in the field of innovation, we have now also achieved local recognition."
