Solutions for remote sensing of earth and geographic information systems

Remote sensing data of earth by satellite or plane provide precious information that can help solving environmental questions, planning tasks or the identification of dangers to nature. Through overlap of existing maps with geo-referenced image data, new diverse information can be gained. Our products can support you both with capturing and preparation and the use of high resolution raster data.

Example Access to geo-referenced raster data

High resolution raster image data require a large memory. A resolution of 25 cm per pixel, for instance, produces 50 MByte of image data for a colored image of a single square kilometer. With multi-spectral images or the increase of the resolution, this amount of data can rise remarkably.

For the administration of these extensive data sets, different strategies were developed. With single workspaces or small networks, GeoTIFF- or GioJPEG-files are saved locally and directly integrated into the GIS-Systems. Normally, this solution is quite inexpensive to implement, since common GIS-Systems offer interfaces for the administration of locally available geo-referenced raster images. However, the speed of those simple solutions is generally not sufficient for smooth working

Larger solutions rely on central database systems that contain all image data. Through efficient hard- and software, these systems are able to provide image data very performantly. Though, the price for such systems normally is a six-digit EURO-sum. Another disadvantage is the necessity of a central database server. The field work, which is important for many applications, is thus only very limited possible.

Our solutions on the basis of the arivis ImageCore combine the advantages of local and central approaches, without inheriting their disadvantages:

Of course, we adjust our solutions to your special use case, and help you to integrate your data and optimize your image data-workflow.
